It's that time of the year again when the City of Brighton beckons families for a ghoulishly delightful evening at Carmichael Park. The city's "Spooky Saturday" will feature the animated hit Hotel Transylvania on Oct. 4 at 5 p.m., inviting residents to gather under the stars for a family-friendly movie night. According to the City of Brighton, before the screening, children can partake in pre-movie activities beginning at 3:30 p.m., where costumes aren't just welcomed but encouraged.
The allure of autumn festivities is set to bring a food truck onto the park grounds, ensuring that moviegoers have their pick of snacks. While the event is free, attendees are reminded to come prepared with blankets, lawn chairs, and whatever else they need to settle in for the evening. In a community-driven twist, the Brighton Recreation Center will host a Halloween Costume Exchange from noon to 4 p.m. the same day. As seen on the city's website, locals can swap outgrown or once-worn costumes for something new to them, embodying the spirit of sustainability and sharing this Halloween season.
Contributing to the costume exchange comes with a gentle reminder. All costumes should arrive freshly washed or dry-cleaned, without stains, odors, or damage. "Please ensure costumes are freshly washed or dry-cleaned, sanitized, and looking their best—no stains, odors, or damage," reads the city's guidelines, as per the City of Brighton. It's an effort to ensure that the joy of dressing up can carry on from one child to another without the wastefulness of buying new.
