In a series of unfortunate road incidents, a 30-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in the Bronx, while in a separate event in Selden, a woman was charged in connection with another fatal hit-and-run. In the early hours of yesterday, just after 2 a.m. near the Major Deegan Expressway and Mosholu Parkway, the victim was found by the NYPD with severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Saint Barnabas Hospital, the man was pronounced dead, according to ABC7 New York. As of now, the suspect remains at large, with no vehicle description available, and the authorities have yet to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic incident.
Meanwhile, in Selden, Yeymi Sanchez-Guzman, 31, has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident. The 36-year-old victim, Randolph King, was discovered on College Road shortly before 1:30 a.m. Reports from News 12 Long Island indicate that a driver alerted police after spotting a body and car parts scattered along the road. Sanchez-Guzman was detained by police following the discovery of damage to the front end and windshield of her car.
While the Bronx case continues to be shrouded in mystery with no clear motive or suspect in sight, Selden residents have expressed concerns over the safety of local roads. "People just drive too fast, too aggressively on Long Island in general," a local resident, Theresa Maltz, told News 12. Concerns are particularly pointed toward College Road, which is known for its high speeds and for being a connector between Middle Country Road and Mooney Pond Road.
While Sanchez-Guzman will face a judge today, the search for the culprit in the Bronx hit-and-run persists, leaving a somber reminder of the consequence of careless driving.
