
Charlotte is reeling from two separate shootings that occurred early yesterday morning, leaving two individuals dead and another critically injured. WBTV reports that the first incident took place near Queen City Drive by the Rodeway Inn around 1:15 a.m., where police discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound; he was quickly transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The second shooting happened in the 200 block of Atando Avenue, close to North Tryon Street, around 2:45 a.m., where police found two more victims with gunshot wounds; as confirmed by The Charlotte Observer, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene while the other was taken to the hospital facing life-threatening injuries, no details of a suspect have been released.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) is actively investigating both shootings as homicides, yet no suspects are being pursued in connection with the first incident near Queen City Drive and the investigation into the Atando Avenue shooting has not yielded any information regarding a potential suspect either, according to WCNC, both investigations remain active and ongoing, as the department grapples with a spate of gun violence that's rattled the community.
The CMPD has not released the names of the victims as investigations proceed, asking anyone with information to come forward.
