
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has issued an update on the ongoing homicide investigation within the Independence Division. Detectives have identified an additional victim and elevated the charges against the suspect, 29-year-old Francisco Aldair Lopez-Tadeo, to Attempted Murder.
As per the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department release, Lopez-Tadeo, who had previously been taken into custody, remains held by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office. The next of kin of the victim, Mr. Phifer, has been notified of the latest developments.
Authorities are asking the community for information regarding the incident. Anyone with knowledge of the case is encouraged to contact a Homicide Unit detective at 704-432-TIPS (8477). Detective Murphy is leading the investigation.
