In a revealing social media post from the California Highway Patrol's Stockton division, concerns are being raised about a dangerous trend in San Joaquin County. The enforcement team has noted an increase in incidents involving drivers who are both under the influence and in possession of firearms.
The latest occurrence, as mentioned in the CHP - Stockton's Facebook post, occurred last night when a vehicle was stopped on SR-99 near SR-120 in Manteca. The driver, found to be speeding and driving erratically, was arrested after being over three times the legal alcohol limit. Compounding the danger, the driver was found in possession of two loaded firearms; one was illegally modified to be fully automatic and had an extended magazine.
The combination of DUI and illegal firearms carries severe consequences for those involved and poses a significant threat to the safety of the public. "It's not just illegal—it's dangerous for everyone," states the CHP - Stockton in the post, stressing the importance of making better decisions when behind the wheel. They urge the community to designate a sober driver and to adhere to weapon laws to ensure safety for all on the road.
