More than 50 volunteer artists have transformed a vandalized retaining wall in Salmon Creek, Clark County, into a 4,000-square-foot mural focused on stormwater pollution prevention and over 60 fish species native to the creek. According to Clark County Public Works, this project involved volunteers and multiple Public Works divisions, including parks, Clean Water, and roads.
The initiative was proposed by local advocate Vicki Holman to address a frequently vandalized area. Under the direction of muralist Ana Gabriella and Public Works staff, nearly 100 community members contributed to the project over six months.
The mural was unveiled this past weekend. It also introduces the Salmon Creek Solutions Project, a county effort to gather resident input on improving stormwater management. Updates and participation opportunities are available on Clark County Public Works’ social media channels and website.
