Residents in the Cleveland area can expect a tranquil weather pattern throughout the rest of the week, as per the latest forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) in Cleveland. NWS Cleveland predicts that high pressure to the east will keep conditions stable and dry, with temperatures gently rising in the coming days.
Over the next 36 hours, the weather is set to remain calm with temperatures reaching the mid-70s today and potentially climbing even higher into the mid-to-upper 70s by Wednesday. Established by a weak pressure gradient and a notable temperature differential between land and lake, a lake breeze is anticipated to occur during the afternoon. The NWS Cleveland office notes, "Given warmer daytime temperatures, low temperatures tonight will be less cool in the upper 40s to lower 50s."
As for the latter part of the week, the scenario seems largely unaltered. A weak surface trough passing through Wednesday night into Thursday isn’t expected to stir up any precipitation due to the prevailing dry and continental air mass. "Therefore, will maintain the dry forecast for the first half of the short term period," stated the NWS' forecast discussion. Friday’s weather is also projected to remain dry with temperatures possibly inching up to the low 80s.
Looking further ahead into the weekend and the beginning of next week, any chances of breaking the dry spell seem slim. With both an upper ridge and a weak upper trough influencing conditions, there’s only a slight chance of rain forecasted for the area. "The concern for rain potential is that the upper ridge will win out with a warmer, but drier air mass," explained the forecasters from NWS Cleveland. Temperatures are expected to remain slightly above normal through Saturday before possibly settling back to more typical readings for Sunday and Monday.
In terms of aviation, travelers can look forward to favorable conditions with generally VFR (Visual Flight Rules) expected through Saturday. However, there is a chance for localized morning fog in certain areas, which might cause transient visibility issues before it disperses with daytime heating. For those heading out onto Lake Erie, light winds and wave heights of two feet or less are forecasted through to this Saturday, making for smooth sailing or relaxed waterfront activities.
