Get your voices heard, hunters and fishers of Colorado. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) has launched its application window for the state's Sportsperson’s Roundtable. Now through October 17, outdoor enthusiasts who hunt, fish, or trap can throw their hats in the ring to help shape wildlife management and recreational practices. Those interested should apply by 5 p.m. MT on the closing date to be considered for the role, as detailed by Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
CPW is not just looking for input; they're seeking geographical representation, too. Currently, applications are welcome from individuals in the Northwest, Southeast, and Southwest regions of Colorado, per the CPW announcement. Volunteering for this panel is not a small commitment; members will need to be active participants in both in-person and virtual meetings, take part in regional CPW gatherings, and engage constructively with their local hunting and angling community, all expenses paid out of pocket when it comes to travel.
If you want additional details about the duties and functions of the Roundtable, the CPW outlines responsibilities such as: maintaining strong relationships with fellow sportspeople, attending various meetings, identifying discussion topics for the Roundtable, and making oneself available for communications pertaining to the Roundtable's work on the CPW website. Roundtable members agree to a two-year term and the opportunity to give input on a range of key issues, from habitat management to how Colorado manages its wildlife populations.
