
The National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington has issued a warning of possible severe thunderstorms in the D.C. area late this afternoon into the early evening. According to the National Weather Service advisory, these storms may bring damaging winds and large hail. Residents in and around the capital should be prepared for a high chance of precipitation today, with forecasts predicting an 80% likelihood of showers and potentially strong thunderstorms after 5 pm.
According to the Hazardous Weather Outlook, A fairly mild south breeze of 5 to 7 mph will precede the storm, but don't be lulled by the gentle winds. Come tonight, the chance of showers continues at 60%, with thunderstorms likely before 3 am and possible patchy fog developing between 10 pm and 2 am. All while scattered showers will be ushering in a cooler low of around 62 degrees, the hazardous weather outlook has specified that "Spotter activation may be needed this afternoon."
Sunday’s weather will start with a few morning showers (30% chance before 8 a.m.), then skies will clear. It will be breezy with a high near 75, making for a pleasant end to the weekend.
After the storms, the weather will turn calmer with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. Patchy fog and a few showers are possible tonight, but conditions will clear by Sunday night, leading into a pleasant start to the week.
