Over the weekend, a daring theft at C&L Supply on 5830 Shelby Drive saw culprits escape with nearly two dozen televisions. The Memphis Police Department responded to the scene after receiving reports on Saturday, September 6, at 4:06 p.m., but by then the suspects had fled. Surveillance footage revealed a trio of individuals, veiling their identities and orchestrating their heist with a white box truck in broad daylight.
Details that emerged show suspects cutting the lock to the gate at approximately 3:34 p.m. The boldness of their act was compounded by the daylight hours during which they carried out their scheme. A total of 47 TVs were removed from the semi-trailer, with 24 loaded into the suspects’ vehicle and the remainder left discarded by the side. Suspect #1 donned all-black clothing and a hoodie, while Suspect #2 was spotted in a dark, long-sleeved shirt and gray pants. The attire of Suspect #3 remains unknown.
The Memphis Police Department's report gives us a glimpse into the proficiency of these criminals, their ability to strike quickly, and vanish nearly without a trace. Only the digital eye of the store's surveillance system bore witness to the crime, providing essential, though limited, information. Authorities urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward, as these acts of theft not only impact the business directly affected but ripple through our local economy.
