The DeKalb County Planning & Sustainability Department is calling on young artists from local middle schools to envision and capture the future of their community through an art contest in celebration of World Planning Day. The contest, which was first announced by DeKalb County yesterday, beckons students in grades 6 through 8 to interpret their community's tomorrow under the theme "Think Global, Plan Local."
Participants have until October 1 to submit their artwork for consideration in time for World Planning Day, an event highlighting the importance of urban and community planning. Entries must follow the size requirement of 11" x 16" and may explore themes such as sustainability, transportation, or the central question: “What does community look like to you?” The contest not only offers participants a platform to showcase their creativity but also includes the chance to win a special prize for the top entries, according to the county's announcement.
For those seeking more information on contest criteria and the submission process, details are available on DeKalb County’s official World Planning Day Middle School Art Contest page. Questions or clarifications may also be directed to Nicole Marchant and Eva Chauveau through their listed email addresses or phone numbers.
