In a brief yet heartening report of effective law enforcement, the Denver Police Department shared a story of their team's dedication and proficiency in recovering a stolen vehicle that belonged to a father visiting his sick child. As detailed in a social media post by the Denver Police Department, Corporal David Briggs spearheaded the operation after the truck was reported stolen from the Ronald McDonald House on September 14.
The Denver Auto Theft Team (DATT) detectives, following Corporal Briggs' lead, made extensive use of the FLOCK camera system in their pursuit of the vehicle. According to the Denver Police Department, the suspect, who was thought to have outsmarted the authorities, had removed the truck's license plates and construction logos, deep in an apartment complex to hide it, which was located near the 9200 block of E. Mississippi Avenue. The officers’ perseverance eventually paid off when they pinpointed the truck's last known location.
After some hours of careful observation, undercover officers observed the stolen truck pulling into a gas station near the 10900 block of E. Mississippi Avenue. They watched as the suspect left the vehicle and entered the store, creating a window of opportunity for a safe arrest. "The suspect was arrested for first-degree motor vehicle theft, felony possession of controlled substances, which included suspected methamphetamine and suspected fentanyl, possession of identification documents, possession of financial transaction devices, and an outstanding felony warrant out of Arapahoe County," the Denver Police Department disclosed.
