The City of Durham is seeking public input on the future of walking and biking infrastructure. Earlier this year, nearly 2,000 residents provided feedback on sidewalks, bike lanes, and crosswalks, generating a list of 150 potential projects to improve safety and accessibility.

The City of Durham now aims to narrow the list to 75 projects for inclusion in the updated Bike + Walk Plan. Residents can provide input online or at upcoming community meetings, where transportation staff will collect feedback. Participants who complete the survey at these events may be eligible to win a $200 gift card.

Proposed projects include improving sidewalk and bike corridor connections, enhancing intersection safety, and addressing shorter gaps in pedestrian and bike routes.

Residents can submit feedback through an Interactive Comment Map or by registering for upcoming events. The City of Durham Transportation Department oversees traffic signals, parking operations, street lighting, and transportation planning to expand connectivity and travel options. Updates are available on the department’s Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
