Memphis has witnessed another unsettling act of violence, this time in the quiet early morning hours on Huckleberry Street. According to the Memphis Police Department, gunfire erupted when the victims were simply backing out of their driveway. The unsettling incident occurred on Tuesday at 7:48 a.m., and police were promptly on the scene following the attack involving two suspects in a stolen vehicle.
The perpetrators, described as two black males, reportedly executed the assault while seated comfortably in a stolen white Lexus SUV. In the midst of fleeing, the shooters led a chase northbound on Huckleberry Street, tailgated by a silver Lexus ES 350 also reported stolen. Minutes later, the white Lexus SUV was discovered abandoned at 3600 Hazelhedge Drive. Notorious for its discretion, video surveillance later captured the suspects at 6:20 a.m. on the 4100 Block of Winding Brook Lane, engaged in the theft of the white Lexus SUV, and, in a separate incident, a maroon Lexus.
In a bid to draw them out of the shadows, descriptions of the suspects have been disseminated across various platforms. The first suspect wore a black hoodie, black pants, a black ski mask, and stood out with blue tennis shoes. His accomplice, suspect number two, donned a gray hooded sweatshirt, black ski mask, black jogging pants, and was noted for carrying a black handgun with an extended magazine.
Authorities are reaching out to the public, urging anyone who might hold pieces of this puzzle to step forward. Tips can be shared anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 901-528-CASH (2274).
