Eden Prairie is moving into fall with a series of community events and initiatives aimed at bringing residents together and supporting local improvements. One of the city’s major projects is the system testing of the METRO Green Line Extension, which began earlier this summer. According to Eden Prairie’s official website, the project has entered a phase where traffic warning systems at 15 light rail grade crossings between Eden Prairie and Minneapolis will be activated, signaling residents to prepare for changes with the new transit line.

The city is also encouraging participation in its Community Photo Contest, which accepts entries until Friday, September 19. Winning photographs will be featured in Life in the Prairie and other city publications. Information on submitting entries is available on the city’s website.

Entrepreneurs will have an opportunity to network at the free Entrepreneur Jubilee event on September 20 at Purgatory Creek Park. The event will feature local business insights, live music, and food trucks.

The Eden Prairie Police Department will host a car seat clinic on September 21 at Fire Station 1, where technicians will be available to check car seat installations. No appointments are required. In addition, an informational meeting for the Edina/Eden Prairie Police Explorers program will take place on September 16 for young adults interested in law enforcement.

Education and community pride will be highlighted at the Eagle Excellence Showcase on October 4 at the Valley View Campus on Bryant Lake, hosted by Eden Prairie Schools and the Foundation for Eden Prairie Schools. The event will honor the first class of the Eden Prairie Schools Hall of Fame and include the 2025 FEPS Legacy Awards. Tickets are available online.

Environmental efforts also continue this month. A buckthorn removal event organized by Friends of Eden Prairie Parks, supported by the Hopkins VFW, will be held on September 20. The city has also announced a Lions Club-funded project to convert turf into native plant areas in several parks.

City meetings remain open to the public at the City Center. The Heritage Preservation Commission meets on September 15, the City Council on September 16, and the Planning Commission on September 22.
