In alignment with National Voter Registration Day on Sept. 16, the El Paso County Elections Department has taken initiative to ensure all eligible citizens can cast their ballots in the upcoming November 2025 Uniform and Special Election as well as the March 2026 Primary Election. Reflecting the nationwide push to bolster civic participation, the department will station itself at key locations throughout the county to provide hands-on assistance with voter registration.
With a tight deadline looming, those not yet on the electoral roll have until Oct. 6 to register. In sync with this effort, the department has facilitated access to the Texas Voter Registration Application on its website, an essential move to streamline the registration process. Additionally, they are not stopping at online methods; El Paso County is reaching out into the community, with educational institutions becoming epicenters of this democratic drive, according to Socorro ISD.
Broadening their outreach, El Paso County has specified Socorro ISD employees who are authorized to register voters, including students on campus who will be of voting age come election day. These individuals span various departments, ensuring that voter registration is interwoven with daily school life and easily accessible to the future generations of voters.
Moving beyond the confines of the internet and school corridors, El Paso's streets have become avenues for political empowerment. The department's representatives are set to mark the National Voter Registration Day by engaging directly with constituents, aiding in filling out forms, and answering any queries. The roster of community facilitators reads like a roll call of civic engagement: Christy Flores-Jones, Maya Kirtley, and Vanessa Salazar in Public Relations, Angelica Hernandez in Technology Services, and Candace Printz in Fine Arts, to name a few.
