The El Paso Independent School District has announced Jesus Acosta as the new principal of Cooley Elementary School, ushering in what they hope to be a bright future for the school's academic year 2025–26. With a solid background in educational leadership, Acosta is set to take the helm starting this school year, leveraging his experience to benefit the students and staff members alike.
Before securing the position at Cooley Elementary, Acosta served as the principal at Zavala Elementary School. There, he managed to effectively lead instructional programs and cultivate a community-focused educational environment. His resume further includes key leadership roles at Connecting Languages, Herrera Elementary, and Franklin High School, in which he consistently aimed to not only uplift but also transform the scholastic experience for each child under his care.
As obtained by El Paso ISD, Acosta expressed his eagerness to drive Cooley Elementary forward: "I am honored to join the Cooley Elementary community. Together with our dedicated teachers and staff, I look forward to creating a learning environment where every student feels supported, inspired, and challenged to reach their full potential." This sentiment underscores Acosta’s dedication to fostering a nurturing and challenging educational sphere for all students.
Epitomizing El Paso ISD's commitment to strong instructional leadership, Acosta’s selection comes with the clear expectation that he will closely collaborate with the school's faculty, the families, and the wider community to both advance academic achievement and to carefully nurture the individual growth of each student. Amidst this leadership change, Cooley Elementary anticipates a significant positive impact on the way education is delivered and experienced on its grounds.
