The Ventura County Sheriff's Office recently reported the arrest of Elijah Kidd in connection with a 2022 robbery at La Unica Mini Market. According to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Kidd was taken into custody at his Carmichael residence by detectives with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau on an arrest warrant for three counts of second-degree robbery. Kidd is scheduled to appear in court on September 10.
In a related case, after an exhaustive seven-day preliminary hearing, Rotherie Durell Foster faces trial on 35 felony counts, including two counts of murder, several counts of robbery, burglary, grand theft, and crimes targeting the elderly. As detailed in a news release issued by the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, Foster's charges stem from a series of crimes committed throughout 2022, leading to his arrest and subsequent no-bail custody status.
The robbery at La Unica Mini Market took place on July 3, 2022, where Foster and an at-the-time unidentified accomplice, now known to be Kidd, allegedly brandished firearms and demanded money from the store employees. The Sheriff's office noted the community's involvement in providing information that significantly aided the investigation.
Foster's legal troubles deepen as criminal proceedings approach. Set for arraignment on October 2, Foster is accused of murder for financial gain, among other serious allegations, as per the Ventura County District Attorney's Office. These include the intentional fentanyl poisoning death of one victim and the financial exploitation of an elder. Senior Deputy District Attorney Amber Lee is prosecuting what appears to be a complex case involving multiple high-severity charges.
