The City of Escondido has launched into action on the Emergency Trunk Sewer Replacement Project (ETSRP), taking on the task to mend a critical piece of its wastewater infrastructure. The city's official release reported that construction will commence in two new zones to replace a failed sewer line. The project will span parts of East Valley Parkway from Beech St. to Fig St. and North Fig Street between Washington Ave. and Valley Parkway.
East Valley Parkway will see approximately 1,930 feet of trunk sewer main replaced. Hoping to lessen the burden on daytime routines, work is scheduled during nighttime hours, specifically from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. The construction, taking place at night, will inevitably lead to noise from heavy equipment and trucks, and is planned to reduce its influence on local commerce, according to the city's announcement.
Travelers should brace for traffic disruptions; the city has warned of lane closures, including turn pockets, in both directions on East Valley Parkway during construction. North Fig Street will also undergo significant changes, with the removal and replacement of a sewer manhole and the laydown of a new 24-inch sewer pipe. This effort will close North Fig Street for an extended period, starting September 2 and continuing until September 19, around the clock, to ensure the project's swift conclusion.
Work on North Fig Street unfolds daily from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and may occasionally bleed into extended or weekend hours. Anticipating the upheaval, adequate detour signage is promised to channel both vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the closure. By embarking on these critical infrastructure improvements, the community’s patience is much appreciated by the City of Escondido, as detailed in their public statement.
