In a recent security incident captured by a Ring home camera in Fairfield, California, police detained a juvenile following a handgun scare. According to a social media post from the Fairfield Police Department, two individuals were seen approaching a residence on the 1100 block of Harding Street on Sunday. One of the individuals was reportedly brandishing what seemed to be a handgun. The homeowner, viewing this interaction through their Ring camera, promptly notified the authorities.
The police statement detailed that, upon arrival, the officers expanded their search after the suspects had vacated the premises, heading northbound. Their efforts were rewarded in a nearby park at the corner of Utah and Hayes, where two juveniles were found matching the description provided by the caller. At this juncture, one of the males divulged that he was carrying a magazine for a firearm in his pocket.
Fairfield police utilized their K9 unit, Drako, who unearthed a hidden firearm in a local garbage can. Found with a single round in the chamber but no magazine, the connection between the discarded weapon and the minor in possession of the magazine was made. "The minor in possession of the magazine, and identified on camera as having the weapon, was booked into Juvenile Hall," said the Fairfield Police Department. The second juvenile was subsequently released to their parent without charges.
