
Early this morning in the Kennesaw area, a tragic event unfolded when a pedestrian was struck and killed on Cobb Parkway, prompting a substantial police response and road closures. The incident, first reported by local news outlet FOX 5 Atlanta, occurred near Barrett Parkway and led to multiple lanes being closed in both directions as of 6:15 a.m. By 7:15 a.m., a FOX 5 photojournalist confirmed the fatality after observing a body in the roadway.
Drivers were cautioned to find alternative travel routes during the closure, as the area from Old Highway 41 to Barrett Parkway on Cobb Parkway southbound was shut down for the investigation. Subsequently, Atlanta News First reported that the road had been reopened by 8:17 a.m. No vehicle was found at the scene, hinting at the possibility of a hit-and-run scenario, however, the specifics of the vehicle involved have not been disclosed.
Cobb County Police, in collaboration with the Kennesaw Police Department, were present at the scene. The instruments of examination and the authority to conclude on the death, were at work under the uplifted sun.
