According to ABC11, the victim was identified as Luz E. Arroyo of Fayetteville, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup, 41-year-old Richard B. Goodyear also of Fayetteville, was transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in stable condition. Charges against Goodyear include misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, as well as driving on the wrong side of the road and failure to reduce speed.

The incident marks the second deadly wreck in Fayetteville in less than 24 hours. Officials have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash and are calling on anyone with information to come forward.
