The Federal Bureau of Investigation's San Diego division is intensifying its manhunt for Juan Laureano-Arvizu, also known as "Chaquetin," offering up to a $50,000 reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction. The fugitive was an alleged member of Los Palillos, an enforcement crew that branched off from the Arellano Felix Organization (AFO)—a notorious drug-trafficking group in Tijuana, Mexico. Following the apprehension of AFO leaders, Los Palillos members sought refuge across the border, establishing a new base of operations in San Diego County. There, involved in a litany of heinous acts, including the suspected torture and murder of nine individuals.

Laureano-Arvizu's criminal charges encompass a long list, with a California State arrest warrant issued on August 26, 2009, incorporating murder, the attempted murder of a police officer, kidnapping for ransom, and several other serious offenses. The FBI escalated the case to a federal level in 2014, charging Chaquetin with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
