The Folsom Police Department announced a "successful encampment abatement" at the intersection of Sibley Street and Blue Ravine Road. The clearance, publicized via a social media post, was a joint operation involving the collaboration between various state and city departments.
The encampment on state-owned land had become a focal point for community concerns relating to health, safety, and environmental hazards. In an effort to effectively address these issues, the Folsom Police Department's Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), along with other local agencies, worked to engage the individuals living there. "Our outreach team engaged with individuals at the location many times—offering resources, support, and housing assistance," as stated by the police department. "Several people secured housing independently, showing incredible resilience and determination."
The Folsom Police Department, Department of Fish & Wildlife, Folsom Solid Waste, and Folsom Streets Department worked together to responsibly clear homeless encampments, highlighting how multiple agencies can collaborate on such efforts. A 'before and after' photo showed the results. "This outcome is the result of months of coordination, outreach, and persistence—and reflects our city’s commitment to balancing compassion with public safety and environmental care," as mentioned by the police department."
