The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office recently took to social media to express gratitude towards the Fort Worth Police Department for their role in a murder conviction. Jeremiah Berry, aged 24, pleaded guilty to the murder of 34-year-old LeJarvis Lake. Berry was handed a 25-year sentence for his crime, which took place in the early morning hours of February 21, 2023.
According to a post by the Tarrant County DA's Office, Lake was shot twice by Berry in an apartment complex's breezeway, resulting in his death. The successful prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Deanna Franzen and Katherine Messina, with Lee Blaisdell serving as the principal investigator on the case. Victim Coordinator Candace Burnett was also recognized for her contributions to the case.
The District Attorney's statement credited the seamless cooperation between the investigative team and law enforcement as fundamental to securing the conviction. "Thanks to the Fort Worth Police Department for its work on this case and for keeping our community safe," the Tarrant County DA's Office stated, acknowledging the vital role the police played in both the investigation and maintaining public safety.
