Los Angeles residents have an opportunity to stay ahead of potential health issues with upcoming free screenings provided by DaVita in partnership with local nonprofits. The screenings are designed to detect diabetes, hypertension, and kidney disease—conditions that often go unnoticed until they become more severe challenges.
DaVita, a company specializing in kidney dialysis-related services, is on a mission to catch these issues early. "High blood pressure, diabetes and kidney problems can be hard to see," the company's website states, "You might feel fine but still have health concerns. Our free health screenings can find these problems early. When we find them early, we can provide you with education and local services to help you stay healthier," CBS Los Angeles reports.
The first of these events is slated for Tuesday, September 30, at St. Barnabas Senior Center and will include not only health screenings but also free food distribution services by Seeds of Hope, as per the DaVita community health page. Subsequent screenings will take place at various locations throughout L.A., each tailored to accommodate community members, with services like language translation and food distribution where available. For convenience, DaVita encourages pre-registration, though walk-ins are also welcome at the events.
Details about event times, locations, and additional amenities follow to make the screenings accessible. For instance, at Pico Union Project on October 3, there is limited on-site parking and additional parking at a fee across the street. Similarly, LACare Community Resource Center in Lincoln Heights will offer on-site parking for its October 10 event. Seeds of Hope will provide on-site free food distribution services at select events, aiming to address more than just immediate medical needs. More information, including specifics on parking and services available at each site, is detailed on the DaVita community health page.
