Memphis residents, mark your calendars for a chance to access free health services and information at the Community Care Fair hosted by the Shelby County Health Department. Aimed at making healthcare resources more accessible, the fair will take place next Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Ed Rice Community Center, located at 2935 N. Watkins Street, Memphis, 38127. Attendees can look forward to a range of no-cost services including confidential HIV testing and vital immunizations for both children and adults.
This one-day event features the Shelby County Health Department’s variety of programs and resources tailored for community welfare. They’re pulling out all the stops – CHANT assistance, opioid overdose harm reduction kits replete with naloxone, fentanyl test strips, and while they last, free infant CPR kits. Additionally, pregnant women, and families can learn about the Healthy Start Live Long Program, and everyone can benefit from violence prevention resources. If that’s not enough incentives, there will also be giveaways.
In a statement obtained by Shelby County Health Department, Dr. Bruce Randolph, Director/Health Officer of the Shelby County Health Department, said, “Shelby County Health Department is pleased to offer these services to the people of Frayser and the surrounding communities. Our goal is to make all our valuable health department services more accessible to the public.” Furthermore, the event promises an engaging atmosphere complete with free food and music.
With public health emergencies such as mpox and COVID-19 still in play, the importance of events like these cannot be overstated. The fair aims to bridge gaps in healthcare accessibility, particularly in underserved communities.
