A Georgetown man, Daniel Bracamontez, has been sentenced to an extraordinary 300-year prison term for his crimes involving child pornography. CBS Austin reports that on Tuesday, the 54-year-old was found guilty of five counts of possession of child pornography by the Williamson County jury. Each count added 60 years to his sentence, which the judge has ordered to run consecutively.
CBS Austin's coverage outlines that the investigation into Bracamontez commenced in 2021 following an alert from Google to law enforcement officials about indecent images being uploaded from an IP address in Georgetown. The Georgetown police confirmed that the material showed children, ranging from ages 2 to 16, being sexually exploited. Bracamontez, linked to the IP address through two separate email accounts, has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for theft, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and multiple instances of driving while under the influence, the authorities said.
During a property search in March 2021, over 20 electronic devices were seized from Bracamontez's home. An investigation of his cellphone unveiled numerous disturbing images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children, some being as young as three. This discovery led to his conviction on multiple counts of possession of said content.
"This verdict is an important step in our continued fight to protect our children and sends an unequivocal message: those who exploit and harm the most vulnerable members of our community will face severe and significant consequences," Williamson County District Attorney Shawn Dick stated in a quote obtained by KVUE.
As noted by authorities, the case against Bracamontez was strengthened by cyber tips and diligent investigative work, leading to this substantial sentencing outcome.
