
Tulsa is prepping for its eighth iteration of 918 Day, a celebration of the city’s pride and progress happening on September 18, themed "Tulsa in Motion." It'll be a packed Thursday with Mayor Nichols embarking on a tour dubbed "Monroe On The Go," hitting nine schools, taking part in an adventure, and visiting eight local businesses that underline his dedication to the city's future and its youth, follow his progress on Facebook and Instagram at @MonroeForTulsa, as announced in a recent press release by the City of Tulsa.
Adding a fresh twist to the festivities is the 918 Day Passport Challenge substituting the traditional scavenger hunt; this Saturday side-event on September 20 draws participants through Tulsa's destination districts to gather stamps and win prizes, participants eager to join can deck themselves out in past or current 918 Day apparel or any Tulsa-themed gear – those interested should swing by a destination district, or download a Digital Passport Card from the City of Tulsa official website.
The core destinations like Kendall Whittier Main Street and Riverbend Arts District among others are offering unique activities ranging from art shows to live performances, the final stop, Tulsa Parks Handmade Market at Veterans Park, seals the passport journey, providing visitors with an opportunity to explore over 120 local stalls and the chance to enter a giveaway if they get there by 6 p.m. Worth mentioning are bonus destinations; the Tulsa Global District and Historic Greenwood District, where selfie-snapping with local installations doubles as entries in the day's contest.
