"We got the news at 4 a.m….when the police showed up to the house and gave us the news," said Robert Ortiz, stepfather of the Uber driver, Nicole Snell. Nicole Snell's mother, Lucinda Ortiz, revealed in an interview that the last text from her daughter was an all-clear signal, a banana emoji that indicated she was safely ubering passengers.
Described as a "free spirit" by her family, Snell, 36, was a dental assistant, dog groomer, and Uber driver. Her passenger, Marisa Jorgenson, 33, was characterized as a devoted mother always committed to safety, especially when drinking was involved. "She was ubering just to be safe.
