A woman in Goldsboro was left in critical condition following a shooting incident yesterday morning. According to a CBS17 report, the sound of gunfire was detected by ShotSpotter around 6:50 a.m. in the 500 block of Wilmington Avenue, prompting police to rush to the scene.
Upon their arrival, authorities discovered a 58-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound inside a home. "Several other individuals were also found inside the residence unharmed," officers said in a statement obtained by CBS17. The victim, identified as Allison Seiler, was in critical condition by early Sunday afternoon and needed to be transported to UNC Health Wayne. She was subsequently moved to ECU Medical Center in Greenville for further care.
No suspect information has been released as an investigation is actively underway. A WRAL article disclosed that emergency services responded to the incident around 7 a.m., after which Seiler was quickly taken for medical attention due to the severity of her injuries.
An additional report by ABC11 confirmed that inside the home, the police found Seiler wounded but no one else injured. Despite the presence of several people in the home at the time of a shooting, no further casualties were reported.
As the inquiry into the shooting continues, the Goldsboro community awaits updates on Seiler's condition as well as any developments in the police search for suspects. The Goldsboro Police Department has not yet offered any motives for the shooting or any information regarding potential suspects, leaving the incident wrapped in uncertainty.
