Arizona's Governor Katie Hobbs has appointed Daniel R. Huff as the new Judge to the Pima County Superior Court, filling the vacancy left by the retired Judge Peter W. Hochuli. According to the Office of the Governor, Huff, who has been serving as a commissioner and judge pro tempore since 2024, brings a wealth of experience to the bench, especially with his background in juvenile and family law. Before his time as commissioner, he practiced as a judge pro tempore voluntarily, dealing with domestic relations and mental health cases, from 2018 to 2024. His other notable experience includes a stint at the Child & Family Protection Division of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and the establishment of his own firm, which specialized primarily in juvenile and family law matters.
Known for his dedication to the judiciary and accessible justice, Huff has garnered praise for his commitment to the welfare of Pima County citizens. Governor Hobbs expressed her confidence, commending Huff by saying, “In his time as a commissioner, Judge Huff has shown a commitment to improving the judiciary and access to justice,” as per the Office of the Governor.
