A Mexican national, Giovanni Falcon, has entered a guilty plea for charges related to child sexual abuse and transmitting sexually explicit material to a minor. Falcon, age 41, admitted in U.S. District Court in St. Louis to his engagement in sending obscene material to a 15-year-old girl through Instagram, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of Missouri.
Documents from the court specify that between Jan. 1, 2024, and Aug. 12, 2024, Falcon messaged explicit images to the minor and initiated sexual contact. Things came to light when the victim's father came across the messages on Instagram, consequently reaching out to the St. Ann Police Department on Aug. 13, 2024. Falcon was thereafter arrested, and he admitted to having sexually abused the victim, the U.S. Attorney’s Office reported.
The prosecution is spearheaded by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jillian Anderson, with the support of Homeland Security Investigations from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the St. Ann Police Department. It forms part of a bigger initiative, Project Safe Childhood, a campaign that’s been active since 2006, aiming to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse across the country.
At his upcoming sentencing scheduled for Jan. 27, 2026, the attorneys will seek a 216-month prison term for Falcon. After serving his time, Falcon, who is currently in the country unlawfully, will face deportation. This information comes from a statement given by the Department of Justice, which carries out Project Safe Childhood with a web of federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute offenders like Falcon.
