Gwinnett County residents and commuters got their first look at the Evermore North Boulevard project as local officials officially launched the strategic infrastructure enhancement aimed at improving daily commutes. The ribbon-cutting event took place today at 10 a.m. near Westside Court in Snellville, bringing together community leaders and project partners to celebrate the milestone, according to a Gwinnett County press release.
As a venture between Gwinnett County and the Evermore Community Improvement District, the ambitious one-mile stretch from Hewatt Road to Britt Drive has been in the pipeline with the aim of transforming connectivity along the State Route 10/US 78 corridor. Walking a short distance from the parking at 2073 Westside Court, attendees will find signs directing them to the festivities.
The funding cocktail for this initiative is a mix of local SPLOST program dollars supported by state and federal grants. Among the many backers, the Georgia Department of Transportation, the Atlanta Regional Commission, and the State Road and Tollway Authority have all played a part. As laid out in a press release from Gwinnett County, the project represents a collaborative effort to address the growing transportation needs of the region.
The ceremony featured remarks from Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson and District 2 Commissioner Ben Ku, with Jim Brooks, Executive Director of the Evermore Community Improvement District, offering insights into the project’s development. The event was emceed by Gwinnett County Transportation Director Edgardo Aponte, marking a new chapter in transit for residents and visitors alike.
