Harbor Sweets, a North Shore chocolate artisan known for indulgent, handmade confections, has launched its latest retail outpost in Boston's bustling Copley Place Mall. The new kiosk, distinctive with its sizeable, nautical-themed structure in the shape of a ship complete with a 34-foot mast, is not simply a nod to their seaside roots, it also provides practical benefits such as shading their chocolate from the sun streaming in through the mall's glass ceiling.

Co-owner Jonathan Kasen, in an interview with NBC Boston, revealed the creative thought-process behind the decision to go nautical, "I walk through this mall every single day and I had just been wanting to put a kiosk here or a shop right here," Kasen said. "I didn't initially think of it was gonna be a boat, but that kind of came later once we realized that, hey, we want to shade the chocolate. And I'm like, well, what's a cool way to shade it?"

The Harbor Sweets location at 100 Huntington Ave will be open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, as detailed on their website. This expansion into Copley Place marks the third storefront for Harbor Sweets, joining their original Salem factory and their Beverly store in offering a range of chocolates, including the acclaim-worthy "Sweet Sloop".

"If you want to bring a little piece of New England or Massachusetts back with you, if you come to Boston, you can come get it here, get some nautical-themed New England handmade chocolate right here in Copley Place," Kasen told NBC Boston. The shop's design and products are deeply entwined with New England heritage, offering consumers an authentic taste of the region's flavors and traditions. Patrons can look forward to the shop's christening next Tuesday at 11 a.m., complete with the novel breaking of a chocolate champagne bottle against the kiosk's bow.
