The National Weather Service has forecasted a spell of dry conditions with above-normal temperatures set to persist through Friday, September 19. According to their latest report, residents in Columbus, Cincinnati, and Wilmington can expect daytime highs to soar into the 80s and potentially reach the 90-degree mark in certain areas today.

Temperatures during the evening are projected to cool down to the 50s and lower 60s, offering a slight respite from the daytime heat. "With dry airmass in place, dropped dewpoints slightly in the afternoon," the National Weather Service communicated. As for sky conditions, only a few cumulus clouds are expected throughout the day, ensuring clear skies for the majority of the time.

This weather trend is slated to continue into midweek, with Wednesday and Thursday also experiencing sunny, arid conditions. However, the National Weather Service forecast indicates that by the weekend, a change is on the horizon. "Precipitation chances will start to edge into western portions of the area on Saturday as the system starts to approach," cites the report. Despite the weekend rain potential, high temperatures during this period will generally maintain their 80s streak, with Thursday and Friday possibly pushing into the low 90s.

Aviation-wise, the forecast envisages predominantly VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions for the upcoming days. "Cannot rule out very brief river valley fog at KLUK, however, with dry conditions generally expect VFR conditions," the report from the National Weather Service noted. High clouds are expected to drift in this evening which, may affect flight conditions minimally. The outlook for the rest of the week shows no significant weather incidents predicted to disrupt air travel.

To summarize, the week ahead looks to be largely sunny and warm, with possible showers on the weekend providing the only variation. While this extended forecast allows for outdoor planning with some confidence, those in the region should be prepared for a slight shift in the weather by the weekend.
