As reported by the National Weather Service's Honolulu Forecast Office, moderate to breezy trade winds are expected to continue across the Hawaiian Islands, accompanied by brief showers through tomorrow. These conditions are primarily forecasted for windward and mountain regions during the night and early morning hours.
However, from Friday night into Saturday, an increase in clouds and rain showers is on the horizon as remnants of an old frontal band drift across the state. "The strongest shower bands will likely bring some much needed rainfall to favored leeward areas," the NWS statement reads. The Big Island's windward slopes may experience lingering clouds and showers through Sunday, while other islands will revert to the more common, brief shower patterns.
Early next week, a subtle shift in the weather is projected. An upper level low passing over the Hawaii Region is set to enhance clouds and showers across the state from next week Tuesday through early Wednesday morning. This aligns with the pattern of increased precipitation mentioned in the forecast discussion from the NWS.
Meanwhile, marine conditions will be subject to ongoing high pressure northeast of the islands, sustaining moderate to locally strong trade winds. The current Small Craft Advisory (SCA) includes areas known for windy conditions and the Oahu Kauai channel, as per the NWS notice. Surfers can anticipate a moderate increase in swell height along south-facing shores, as a south-southwest swell builds from Friday evening into Sunday.
On the fire weather front, humidity levels, and wind speeds are hovering below critical thresholds. However, temporary increases in humidity and rainfall throughout the week could affect these conditions. Advisory statements issued include a Small Craft Advisory for multiple areas, with some lasting until 6 PM HST this evening or 6 AM HST early this morning, and others extending until 6 PM HST tomorrow.
