
Houston will see a high near 90 degrees today with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 77 degrees and light southeast winds, according to the National Weather Service. Rain chances rise to 60 percent on Tuesday and Wednesday, and a cool front on Thursday is expected to bring drier air with only a slight drop in temperatures.
The autumn season officially began at 1:19 p.m. on Monday with the equinox, when the sun’s rays were directly over the equator. In Southeast Texas, rain and isolated thunderstorms are expected, mainly south of I-10. Most storms are forecast to end by evening, as reported by Click2Houston.
A cool front is expected on Thursday, lowering humidity and bringing temperatures in the 80s during the day and upper 60s in the mornings. Humidity is forecast to return by the following weekend. Hurricane Gabrielle is expected to pass east of Bermuda without threatening the Gulf Coast. Two tropical waves are also being monitored in the Atlantic, with development chances of 50 percent and 20 percent over the next seven days, as mentioned by Click2Houston.
