An Indiana man, Jerry Michael Moore, 42, was handed a 40-year sentence in federal prison for the production and attempted production of child sexual abuse materials, following his guilty plea on June 12, 2025; a sentence imposed by U.S. District Judge Wendy W. Berger and confirmed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

On January 30, Moore was searched by U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at JAXPORT Cruise Terminal upon his return from a cruise originating from the discovery that he was previously convicted of sexual misconduct with a minor back in 2007, during the search officers found Moore had a cellphone containing multiple surreptitious video files of a minor, stored within a “hidden” folder.

After Homeland Security Investigations became involved, a special agent confirmed the presence of the child sexual abuse materials, which Moore confessed were obtained through the use of multiple hidden cameras, including recordings made through a crawl space of a residence to access the inside of a shower through the wall; his cellphone also revealed additional secretive recordings of the child.

Assistant United States Attorney Ashley Washington prosecuted the case, which was investigated by United States Customs and Border Protection Officers and Homeland Security Investigations, this prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative started in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse, an initiative that factors in federal, state, and local resources to apprehend those guilty of these crimes and as important, to rescue the victims.
