Community engagement through social media has once again proved to be a force for good in the case of a missing 8-year-old boy from Jacksonville, Florida. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office credited public tips, which flowed in after a social media blitz, for the safe location of La’Meldrick Washington, barely a day after he went missing.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Facebook post, La’Meldrick was last seen near his home on Adams Lake Boulevard off Normandy Boulevard, following an argument with his guardian. The Sheriff’s Office immediately initiated a search and took to social media to amplify the message, which, effectively led to his safe return.

"Thanks to the tips we received on social media, we have located La’Meldrick and returned him home safely," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office posted on their Facebook page. They extended gratitude to the community, saying, "Thanks to everyone who helped us spread the word and find him! We are very appreciative of everyone who comes together with us in situations like this and helps spread the word."
