"Leaving your car while it's still running? Don't do it, Duval," the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office advised, indicating that food delivery drivers and individuals at gas stations are the most common culprits of this risky behavior the trend is worrisome because it demonstrates a lack of awareness around basic security measures and the consequences of flouting them. In Florida, failing to secure your vehicle appropriately could result in more than the loss of your vehicle—it can also hit you in the wallet with a $114 ticket.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, "Did you know it's actually AGAINST Florida law to leave your vehicle running while unattended."
