Yesterday, a neighborhood disagreement in Jamul escalated to a firearm being discharged, striking a residence. According to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the scene at approximately 3:07 PM, following the incident reports. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the deputies detained several individuals for questioning.
Daniel Ames, 45, was identified by the authorities in connection with the gunfire. While no residents were injured, the seriousness of firing a weapon at an inhabited dwelling has led Ames to be booked on two counts: a pre-existing, unrelated felony warrant and a felony charge of 246 PC - Shooting at Inhabited Dwelling. In a moment of confusion, deputies arriving on the scene were able to confirm that the residence had indeed been hit by gunfire.
The circumstances leading up to the dispute and the subsequent shooting are still under investigation by the Sheriff's Detectives. They are probing into what triggered Ames to allegedly fire the weapon and the history of the rapport between the involved parties.
Ames is currently being held at San Diego Central Jail, and further details regarding the case are yet to unfold. In asking for the public's assistance, anyone with pertinent information about the incident is encouraged by the Sheriff's Station to reach out.
