Janesville residents are notified that the city's annual fall leaf collection will occur from November 10 to 21. Per the city’s website, collection crews will operate only on weekdays, with Saturday pickups no longer included. Residents are encouraged to check the online map for updated route information and the scheduled collection date for their area, according to a city announcement.

Residents should note that the scheduled collection dates serve as a general guideline and may be subject to delays. If leaf collection coincides with trash pickup, residents are asked to keep garbage bins off the street to allow crews sufficient space to operate. Additionally, avoiding street parking during collection periods will help ensure that curbside leaves are not missed.

Leaf placement in street gutters is only permitted between tomorrow and the date collection crews service your street. Leaves should not be placed in the gutter outside of this timeframe. Street sweepers are scheduled to follow one to two days after leaf collection to remove any remaining debris.

If you have questions or need more information, the city folks are just a phone call away at (608) 755-3110, or you can learn more on the City’s Fall Loose Leaf Collection website.

Bagged yard waste and bundled brush will be collected on your regular garbage day between December 1 and 5. Yard waste must be placed in paper bags or reusable containers, with a weight limit of 50 pounds per item. Plastic bags will not be accepted. Brush bundles should be less than 4 feet in length, under 12 inches in diameter, and within the same weight limit. All items must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day.

Alternative disposal options for yard waste are available. Residents may choose to use materials as mulch, leave grass clippings on the lawn, or drop off yard waste at the city compost site, which is open to Janesville residents. Larger items, such as stumps and branches, can be taken to the demolition landfill. Both residents and non-residents may use the landfill, though fees vary by ZIP code.
