Border security agents at the Laredo Port of Entry made significant seizures of illegal narcotics this week, with a combined street value surpassing $2.8 million, as per a recent announcement by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). In two separate incidents at the World Trade Bridge, agents confiscated large quantities of methamphetamine and cocaine hidden within commercial shipments. CBP officials have indicated that these operations highlight the ongoing vigilance in the fight against drug trafficking.

According to the statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, discovered by CBP officers was a total of 9.92 pounds of alleged methamphetamine with a street value of $91,224 during an inspection of a 2025 Freightliner truck manifesting express consignment shipments on Wednesday. Following their standard procedure of canine and nonintrusive inspection systems, the agents unearthed the drugs, contributing to a safer community.

The CBP officers were not done yet, with the following day yielding an even larger haul. A 2025 Kenworth tractor was stopped, manifesting a shipment of stone bricks, and subsequently referred for a secondary inspection where agents found 206.79 pounds of alleged cocaine. According to the CBP, this bust tallied a street value of $2,761,096, making a significant dent in the drug supply chain the operatives were attempting to establish.

CBP emphasized their officers' dedication and the successful outcomes of these operations. In a statement obtained by the CBP, Port Director Alberto Flores said, "The interception of over $2.8 million in hard narcotics in these two enforcement actions underscores our commitment to disrupting criminal organizations and protecting the public from harmful substances." These incidents shed light on the continuing efforts by customs officers to halt illicit activities at the border and emphasize the importance of security measures in place.

Following the seizures, the narcotics were taken by CBP and Homeland Security Investigations special agents have begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding these smuggling attempts.
