Las Vegas is bracing itself for a dramatic transformation as Bally's Corporation unveils its plans for a sprawling resort that encompasses a future home for the Athletics baseball team. Bally's envisions a large-scale project with a casino, restaurant, luxury hotels with 3,000 rooms, and an entertainment complex complete with a 2,500-seat theater and direct access to the Athletics baseball stadium at the heart of the Strip.
While details about the full cost and timeline for completion are still under wraps, we've got a glimpse into the magnitude of Bally's ambitions. According to 8 News Now, the organization has divulged plans for two towering hotel structures at the crossroads of Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Ave. Bally’s senior vice president of corporate development, Christopher Jewett, expressed that the campus is designed to be a hub of activity regardless of baseball game schedules, stating, "You only get to do this once."
The construction is slated to begin at the onset of 2026 and will span a 35-acre lot at the former Tropicana site. “With world-class partners like JLL and Marnell, and with the arrival of Major League Baseball, we are not just building an integrated resort. We are creating a landmark destination that unites sports, entertainment, dining and hospitality on a scale only Las Vegas can deliver,” Soo Kim, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Bally's Corporation, told FOX5 Vegas.
Renderings provided by Bally's feature a dynamic city block with bright lights and pedestrian-friendly spaces. They are adding a Vegas flavor to the traditional baseball experience, intertwining the family appeal of the sport with the allure of Sin City. While the Athletics played their 2025 season in Sacramento, the team, which now lacks a geographical association, will again be present there for the 2026 season. Moreover, one of their game jerseys next season will bear the name Sacramento, as a nod to their temporary home.
Bally's also hopes to secure the approval from the Clark County Commission to increase their hotel capacity, which adds an interesting angle to an already significant expansion. The new complex is expected to not only reshape the tourist landscape but will also add to Vegas' reputation as a premier destination for sports and live events. As the Athletics look forward to their new abode, so do fans and visitors anticipate the rise of what could be a new pivot in the story of Las Vegas entertainment and leisure.
