Jon Reep, a comedian known for winning NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” in 2007 and appearing in HBO’s Eastbound and Down and Curb Your Enthusiasm, has been charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Reep, 53, from Hickory, was arrested following a grand jury indictment yesterday, WSOC-TV reported.
According to WBTV, Reep posted bond set at $260,000 and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday next week. The charges stem from a cyber tip received by the Hickory Police Department from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children earlier this year concerning child sexual abuse material.
Hickory Record reported that investigators obtained a subpoena on March 28 to identify the owner of the internet account involved through Charter Communications. Reep was confirmed as the account owner on April 15. The investigation linked the IP address to his residence on 19th Avenue Lane Northwest in Hickory.
More information is expected after Reep’s next scheduled court date.
