Residents and businesses along Main St and up to Valley Ridge Blvd in Lewisville experienced a blackout yesterday following a vehicle accident that damaged an electric transformer, leading to a secondary transformer malfunction. The Lewisville Police Department, via a social media post, confirmed the incident, urging the public to avoid calling 9-1-1 about the outage unless facing an emergency. This was to ensure call takers could assist with more urgent needs.
This cascade failure resulted in the loss of electricity to multiple city buildings and businesses. However, despite the setback, Texas-New Mexico Power (TNMP) was promptly notified and responded quickly. TNMP's crews were able to swiftly work on-site, aiming to restore service by the end of the day.
The outage did not affect the functionality of Lewisville's emergency services, as the Lewisville Police Department emphasized in their communication: "Lewisville 9-1-1 is still operational." They also provided reassurances that updates would be given as new information surfaced, acknowledging the inconvenience caused and extending gratitude for the community's patience.
As night falls, Lewisville can breathe a sigh of relief. "Power has been fully restored!" announced the Lewisville Police Department in a recent update. This announcement indicates a return to normalcy for the affected area, with businesses and residents alike having their services back up and running. The swift response by TNMP crews helped to quickly alleviate the disruption caused by the earlier accident.
