The Lodi Fire Department has upped its firefighting game with a fresh addition to its fleet: a brand-new ladder truck unveiled during a traditional Push-In Ceremony held at Fire Station 1. According to a statement by the City of Lodi, the department now houses a 2025 Pierce Ascendant 107’ Tiller ladder truck - a machine designed to not only to quickly but also deftly navigate the urban sprawl and reach towering structures ablaze within the city limits.
Procured with a nod from the fiscal year 2022 budget, the long-awaited truck was delivered from Wisconsin and sports an impressive 500-horsepower engine under its hood. The Lodi Fire Department is looking forward to utilizing the truck’s 60’ 9” frame and advanced firefighting tech to protect the community more effectively. Battalion Chief Roger Varwig oversaw the design and build process, ensuring the new vehicle would seamlessly align with their operational demands.
With an extended ladder that can puncture the sky, this $2 million apparatus—$1.79 million for the truck with an additional $168,000 for equipment and mounting—poses as an investment in the future of emergency response in Lodi. It’s expected to enhance the department's celerity and scope in responding to incidences across residential and commercial zones alike.
