A 42-year-old man was left in critical condition after a shooting near his home in Philadelphia's Frankford neighborhood. The incident, occurring just after midnight on the 4600 block of Torresdale Avenue, resulted in the man sustaining multiple gunshot wounds to his legs, as NBC Philadelphia reports.
The victim was found unresponsive on the sidewalk and immediately transported to Temple University Hospital for emergency surgery. Despite receiving prompt medical attention, he currently remains in a critical state. According to the authorities, as he was lying there vulnerable, over 20 shell casings were recovered at the scene, suggesting the use of semi-automatic weapons. PHL17 added that no other individuals were harmed, although four parked vehicles suffered damage from the gunfire.
Investigations are aided by surveillance footage which captured four individuals fleeing the area post-incident, detailed by FOX29. Police are currently searching for these suspects, who were seen running north on Torresdale Avenue then turning west on Margaret Street.
Chief Inspector Scott Small disclosed to reporters the discovery of the casings, indicating that two different caliber firearms might have been used. The victim, after realizing he was targeted by possibly among two shooters, lived just a block away from where he was tragically shot.
