An arrest has been made in the case of a fatal hit-and-run that occurred in a New Hampshire Taco Bell parking lot, according to NBC Boston. Maria Camila Posada Canizales, 27, of Manchester, turned herself into the authorities on Monday after police issued a warrant last week. The horrific incident left 60-year-old Juliana Harbeck, of Rindge, with severe injuries after being struck by a vehicle last Wednesday evening at the fast-food restaurant's location on 1050 Second St. Harbeck was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries the next day, as per NBC Boston.
Boston 25 News reports that following the accident, an intensive investigation was launched which led to Posada Canizales being identified as the alleged driver. While the specific circumstances surrounding the crash remain under wraps, it is confirmed that Harbeck was hit and the driver failed to remain at scene.
Posada Canizales is now facing charges of felony conduct after an accident and was detained pending a court appearance scheduled for today. While details are still scarce, the statement by Manchester Police Department emphasized the nature of the crime: "The investigation determined that Harbeck had been hit by a vehicle, and the driver fled the scene."
